Season review 24/25

All gone on train fares, buzzer flags and my frankly terrifying sportsmix addiction.

Winner gets a set of buzzer flags, balon d'oh winner a packet of sports mix and the loser.... A used train ticket.

Great to see everyone's positivity at the end of the season.

For me I got within touching distance then, through my own actions, tossed it all away.

Had some great, and difficult, games this season involved in a lot of the top of table games as both ref and AR and a few local derbies.

Dust myself off, get over my op, and get fit again to try again next season.

All the best to all in the off season. Remember to take a break, but importantly keep sharp ready for the start of next season.

The people I’ve met this season (inc. on here, virtual ref buddies!) are some of my favourite colleagues. Been absolutely buzzing this season. Did a factory reset on my brain in October, set new goals, and am well on the way. Lost a career-long mentor this season, so been trying to repay his early faith in me.

41 including 9 temporary dismissals
4, 2 of which were in one game
The icing on the cake was my promotion to level 5

All in all, a bloody good season

A trying/challenging season. Invited to FA CORE. Met a lot of fantastic characters throughout this season.

County games were a different beast. Every team wanted to win and had a lot on the line. Nobody would accept a loss and generally a lot of difficult games to manage. Felt confident throughout but had to take a lot of criticism.

Reds: 10

Less games than previous years, but every game was supply or county. So much tougher than my regular paper round.

Also getting to the fittest I've ever been in my life. Recently ran a sub 20min 5k that is the best I've done.

First season after stepping away from FA CORE. Far more relaxed and refereed without any pressure.

A few top of the table clashes and local derbies.

By far my best (and busiest with my cards!) season to date. ️

1 game. No cards. 1 torn calf and a damaged Achilles during it. Just back running now after 6 months of physio treatment.

BUPA hate me so much they have transferred me to another provider

I haven't counted cards, games or whatever. I think in the past season - my first I have just wanted to move on without keeping stats at what I was doing and more how I was doing. Might start though!

Sad only 1 game led to the outcome of the season.

I had my first of the season last night. They obviously come along like buses though as after a violent conduct incident in the first half, a second player was dismissed in the second half for OFFINABUS.
I had a poor spell of 3-4 games in February/March time, starting with a horrible game in torrential rain in February, but over the course of the season I’m really happy with my performances.

Well no, because had I got even higher marks everywhere else then I could have carried that mark. But at that point I estimate that I was in the top 20, after that game I dropped about 40/50 places and never recovered.

At level 3, there is not much room for error, and if you get a below average mark it's very difficult to recover it to get into a promotion position. It's just how it is, there's obviously a lot of talented refs around the country (300+) all vying for just a handful of promotion places.

I'm still proud of my season. Top 100. Year on Year progression. Go again next season. I know I can do it because I got so close. It's down to me to deliver it

I think most people would bemoan that one disappointing score. It's like putting a football accumulator on. Always one lets you down. That's not bad luck. It's predetermined by the maths to make it happen more often than the mind would expect. Winners dont have the one that let's them down, but winners are in a small minority
