So, they lose their appeal deposit (it's only money), get costs awarded against him and can get a larger fine.

I went through a spell where I had so many the CFA joked they were going to give me a pass for their office. The only one I've had since took 3 hours after I abandoned a county cup game and it descended into a fight with players chasing each other down Palmers Green High Street, with police called. Both clubs were charged, as were around 10 players and coaches, and they all appealed.

Some were, a police riot van turned up very quickly.

The most comical thing of it all was after all of the players had run out of the park. One of the very few people left, an older gent who was a manager or coach, said to me you're not going to abandon it are you ref? I could only smile at him and ask how he thought I'd be able to continue the game

Update
Had the meeting and out of all questions, the player himself asks me how can I be so certain it was him? Calmly reminded him, he came onto pitch, made eye contact with me, and said what he said.

After that they excused myself and asked to be on standby for second part of it. That was at 18.30
