I haven't reffed a game yet, but was wondering, when you collect payment do both managers split the fee, or does the home manager cover it all?

The competition rules state who and by when payment should be made.

There is no one size fits all, unfortunately.

The most common is home team but then cup competitions may vary that as well so comp rules are king.

Competition rules will dictate, but most commonly it is the home clubs responsibility to pay you. Check with your league's appointment officer.

This applies even if the fees are split. The Home club should pay you and get the Away team share from them. You are not expected to chase payment from the teams.

Have a read of the rules of your league, probably on their website.
That will also give you details of playing duration, kick off times, substitution rules, etc., etc., in addition to fee arrangements.
Enjoy your refereeing.

Ditto. Back on one of junior leagues I did it was paid half and half and you had to see both managers to collect it in
Same here. I referee in a women's league and their usual match fee is £35 (standard league matches) paid by the home team but for cup games, the fee is £40 (£20 paid by each team ). I've never encountered any issues in getting paid. Maybe I'm just lucky!!?
