Chelsea v Sheff Wed

I can only go on the camera angles here.

But is the Sheff Wed goalkeeper shirt a bit too close to those on the field in front of him? Looks closer to his own team, despite them being dark grey and the keeper being dark purple.

What's your thoughts on this?

The Referee Store
the penalty overturned for Sheffield, any idea why the restart was a drop ball rather than a corner?

Great decision on the overturn for the penalty, but why no corner? Sheffield Wednesday lose out effectively on a penalty that if at Hillsborough would have stood as no VAR at non premier league grounds.
But they don't get a corner either from the resulting tackle.

Seems to be violet ish and the front is black with a yellow band - would have been easier to wear something different - but next to each other - there is a difference.

Apparently he blew before ball had left FOP. What do you know... they go up other end and get a pen. No arguments...
Is marriner not meant to go and look at that still? Not saying it shouldnt have been overturned but its a debatable one as there is contact on the foot of pelupessy?

Ok, the ball may never have gone out of play.

So why an uncontested drop ball? Surely the ball going clearly out for a corner for Sheffield Wednesday should have warranted a contested drop ball to allow them to regain the possession they should have had if play continued.

"The referee shluld not manufacture outcome". Wednesdays fault.

Your right, he shouldn't. But can clearly see he has.
Can argue it's their fault but it's clear to everyone he decided on a drop ball in the area for the keeper only. Why else would the keeper be involved? If it was not suggested to be for the keeper, then a defender would have taken it.

Maybe it was suggested and that would be incorrect but there’s still nothing stopping Sheffield’s players deciding to contest it

Surely a Chelsea free-kick instead of a dropped ball? Ampadu took the ball and the striker booted his heel? (Whistle blown in error was the reason?)

Chelsea penalty possibly a caution for reckless? Sore one right on top of the foot - there was an identical foul in play that deserved one too.

The penalty decision was wrong so no problem with it being overturned. Really don't agree with the dropped ball though, and certainly not dropping it back to the keeper.

I also thought that Westwood's shirt was too close to Chelsea's kit, and it isn't the first time that I've heard it said it is too close to the Wednesday outfield players.

Hutchinson did both, he has always been a walking yellow card (apart from when he is injured, which is most of the time .. :()

Though technically correct if the ball hadn’t gone on the refs whistle, it definitely seems harsh that Sheffield missed out on a corner at the very least because of a referees mistake. Typical that Chelsea then go up the other end and win a penalty after

They're trialling a system where they don't review the screen on the FOP
