Let's not forget that following any religion is a choice. No one is forced to follow any religion. Any decision to follow a "religious requirement" is a choice that the player makes. If you choose to play football, the requirements of Law 4 are not a choice. They are there for valid reasons...
"That's our ball ref" as ball goes towards the line. "It has to go out first. I don't make the rules" as ball is intercepted."
"Which game you watching ref?" "Well it's certainly not Man Utd v Chelsea"
After a particularly challenging game where the No 10 was riding me the whole game. At...
Of late I have been saying "Just two things. Play to the whistle, not the shout or the flag. And I am not here to be shouted at or abused. Do you need time to pass those things on to your players?" Captains invariably say no, so when the first shout comes out that I'm not happy with , I call...
Really didn't see the point to be honest. Isn't that what your AR is for? And what happens when the celebrating players run around the back of the goal and then up the pitch until the rest if their team catch up? Does the ref run along behind?
I can heartily recommend investing in a pressure gauge. I use mine to check the balls every game (is a squeeze a good indication?). This invariably gets seen by players and when they moan in a game that it is too hard/soft I can tell them that I have checked the pressure and it is fine. Other...
All 14/15 year olds? Seems a bit of a sweeping statement?
I'm not on about blowing smoke up peoples backsides I'm talking about not denigrating a colleague (regardless of ability). Would you slag off a ref at a match you were spectating? I know it's an old fashioned idea bit it sometimes...
Surely then that on that basis all refs, regardless of age are useless until they receive some guidance or monitoring? Seems a bit harsh. And also doesn't come across as particularly supportive, especially to the younger members of this forum.
We have enough pundits/players/coaches and other...
Had it last week. Yellow player sent off for second caution(one report). As he goes off "Youre a xxxxxxx joker". "Thank you yellow. That's another report." He couldn't leave it and had another pop at the final whistle (another report covering both lots of verbals). Also did a report to the...
County cup final got a medal. Had to apply for travel. Didn't apply for it last year (as no one had told me) so I only got a medal. The ref and other lino left straight after so i didn't even get a drink and certainly no food was laid on. League cup charity game in the middle saw all...
Like I said, I just don't know why I didn't hit him with a red the first time. Looking back I would have done just that. Had I not done, I shouldn't have let the other one get in my head and should have carried on as normal regardless of the blip. I know that players will moan about...
A salutary lesson. Last Tuesday I had a cracking game (which was assessed). Both teams wanted to play football and got on and did so. Minor answering back on decisions but nothing that warranted more than a quiet word.
Wednesday, a lower league game who appeared to want to play football but...
Surely the mistake you are making is that the goal line is the bit between the posts. Don't forget that the goal line extends to the corners. Therefore it is very possible for a player to play the ball back from the goal line rather than just "bang it in the net".
Funnily enough, I gave it the other night. Player at the front has made no attempt to get the ball. By bending over and moving slightly back he has unfairly charged the opponent. Its not shoulder to shoulder contact. That's how I've sold it. I did see something on one of the MNSRC podcasts...
The point is what constitutes excessive force. We accept a certain level of contact when playing for the ball that we would not accept when off the ball. If the level of force is above what we would accept we apply the necessary sanctions. If Beckhams namby-pamby kick had been as part of a play...
