Belgium (who only just beat us) went on to only just beat Japan. Both were hard matches. The mistake was "planning" based on these specific opponents rather than looking at the remaining teams as a whole.

We are the much better side but we paid the price here for having an out of form Sterling (or the Sterling that never shows for England) and a RWB that is just not good enough for this level. Playing both Alli and Lindgard also looks a little suspect in hindsight. Lindgard though has shown flashes, Alli really not.
