I think the YC was for dissent / reaction to the free kick more than the foul.Woah harsh YC against Portugal... defender clips the ball, attacker comes in carelessly IMHO late and little chance to get the ball... oops

Notice how quickly he gets up, when he doesn't get the original decision. If he had defended instead of trying to get Costa sent off, they would have stopped the goal.A miniscule amount of contact to the neck/jaw area, and Pepe falls to the ground holding his eyes... cheats never prosper.
but I can't understand how he doesn't recommend a second look at least.
No attempy to play the ball by Costa who flails at the the defender with his arm making contact with the neck with enough force to knock him off balance. Pepe is a tw*** but surely it’s a foul ref?A miniscule amount of contact to the neck/jaw area, and Pepe falls to the ground holding his eyes... cheats never prosper.
Surely if it's clear and obvious, he'll recommend overturning the decision. So there must logically be a lower threshold of evidence that means a second look is the correct advice?Because that's not how the system works. The VAR recommends a review ONLY if they think a clear and obvious error occurred.
Time to sign him for Real......OOPS.....

Just seen the Costa theatrics..... no foul.... play on!!
